Resources and Development class 10 Geography Notes

Resources Everything in our environment which can be used to satisfy our needs and is technologically accessible, economically feasible and culturally acceptable is termed as ‘Resource’. Human beings themselves are essential components of resources. They transform material available in the environment into resources and use them. Classification of Resources Resources can be classified in the following ways: (a) On the basis of origin – biotic and abiotic (b) On the basis of exhaustibility – renewable and non-renewable (c) On the basis of ownership – individual, community, national and international (d) On the basis of the status of development – potential, developed stock and reserves a) On the Basis of Origin – Biotic and Abiotic Biotic Resources are obtained from the biosphere and have life. Eg: Human beings, flora and fauna, fisheries, livestock etc. Abiotic Resources: All those things which are composed of non-living things are called abiotic resources. Eg: rocks and me

๐Ÿ›‘Structure of the Atom๐Ÿ›‘

๐Ÿ›‘Structure of the Atom๐Ÿ›‘ ➖By 1900, it was discovered that the atom was not a simple, indivisible particle, but rather it contains sub-atomic particles. ➖J.J. Thomson discovered the sub-atomic particle namely ‘electron.’ ➖J.J. Thomson was the first person who proposed a model for the structure of an atom. ➖In 1886, E. Goldstein discovered the presence of new radiations in a gas discharge and named them canal rays. ➖Another positively charged sub-atomic particle was discovered with experiments of canal rays and named it proton. ๐ŸงฟThomson’s Model of Atom ➖Thomson proposed that an atom consists of a positively charged sphere and the electrons (negative charge) are embedded in it (as shown in the image given below). ➖Further, Thomson said that the negative and positive charges are equal in magnitude. Thus, the atom as a whole is electrically neutral. ๐ŸงฟRutherford’s Model of Atom ➖E. Rutherford is popular as the ‘Father’ of nuclear physics. ➖Rutherford is largely known for his work on radio

๐ŸงฏChemical Effects of Electric Current

๐ŸงฏChemical Effects of Electric Current ✍️Introduction ➖Most of the liquids that conduct electricity belong to solutions of acids, bases and salts. ➖Some liquids are good conductors and some are poor conductors of electricity. ➖The passage of an electric current through a conducting liquid normally causes chemical reactions and the resulting effects of this reaction are known as chemical effects of currents. ➖The process of depositing a layer of any desired metal on another material by means of electricity is known as electroplating. ➖Electroplating is commonly used in industry for coating metal objects with a thin layer of a different metal. ➖Coating of zinc is applied on iron to protect it from the corrosion and formation of rust. ๐ŸงฏMagnetic Effects of Electric Current ✍️Introduction ➖The electricity and magnetism are linked to each other and it is proved when the electric current passes through the copper wire, it produces a magnetic effect. ➖The electromagnetic effects first time no

♦️Revision Notes on Flow of Liquids and Viscosity♦️(2/3) ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Viscosity:- Viscosity is the property of fluids by virtue of which they tend to destroy any relative motion between their layers. Velocity gradient:- Velocity gradient is defined as the rate of change of velocity with respect to distance. (a) Velocity gradient = dv/dr (b) Dimension of velocity gradient = [dv/dr] = [T-1] (c) Direction of velocity gradient is perpendicular to the direction of flow, directed in the direction of increasing velocity. (d) Average velocity gradient:- Average velocity gradient is the difference between velocities of two layers separated a unit distance apart. Average velocity gradient = ฮ”v/ฮ”r Newton’s law of viscosity:- In accordance to Newton’s law of viscosity, the viscous drag force depends upon the nature of fluid along with following factors:- (a) F∝A (common area of two layers) (b) F∝dv/dr (velocity gradient) (c) So, F =ฮทA (dv/dr) Here ฮท is called coefficient of viscosity of flu

๐Ÿ“šNotes on Trigonometric Equations and Identities๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿ“šNotes on Trigonometric Equations and Identities๐Ÿ“š A function f(x) is said to be periodic if there exists some T > 0 such that f(x+T) = f(x) for all x in the domain of f(x). In case, the T in the definition of period of f(x) is the smallest positive real number then this ‘T’ is called the period of f(x). Periods of various trigonometric functions are listed below: 1) sin x has period 2ฯ€ 2) cos x has period 2ฯ€ 3) tan x has period ฯ€ 4) sin(ax+b), cos (ax+b), sec(ax+b), cosec (ax+b) all are of period 2ฯ€/a 5) tan (ax+b) and cot (ax+b) have ฯ€/a as their period 6) |sin (ax+b)|, |cos (ax+b)|, |sec(ax+b)|, |cosec (ax+b)| all are of period ฯ€/a 7) |tan (ax+b)| and |cot (ax+b)| have ฯ€/2a as their period ➖Sum and Difference Formulae of Trigonometric Ratios 1) sin(a + รŸ) = sin(a)cos(รŸ) + cos(a)sin(รŸ) 2) sin(a – รŸ) = sin(a)cos(รŸ) – cos(a)sin(รŸ) 3) cos(a + รŸ) = cos(a)cos(รŸ) – sin(a)sin(รŸ) 4) cos(a – รŸ) = cos(a)cos(รŸ) + sin(a)sin(รŸ) 5) tan(a + รŸ) = [tan(a) + tan (รŸ)]/ [1 - tan(a)tan (รŸ)] 6)tan(a -

The Journey of Saint Mother Teresa

The Journey of a Saint “Life is not worth living unless it is lived for others.”- Mother Teresa. A name that resonates with charity and humility, she taught us the true meaning of selfless living.  A life so dedicated to the cause of providing for others, that it has come to be identified with the stories of the million lives she touched with her healing hand. Decorated with the highest of awards and recognitions worldwide, our humble lady had but one thing to say, “I personally am most unworthy, and I having avowed poverty to be able to understand the poor, I choose the poverty of our people. But I am grateful and I am very happy to receive it in the name of the hungry, of the naked, of the homeless, of the crippled, of the blind, of the leprous, of all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared, thrown away of the society, people who have become a burden to the society, and are ashamed by everybody.” (10 December, 1979, Nobel Prize Speech) While her deeds of selfles
